Solar-powered cars share some of the same features that regular cars have: you know, brakes, accelerator, turn signals, ventilation, and mirrors. But the major similarities stop there, and unlike hybrids, solar-powered cars use no fuel at all: they find energy from the sun, and store it in a battery pack.

How it works

Sunlight is converted directly into electricity (unlike solar thermal energy, which concerts sunlight to heat commonly used for household or industrial purposes) using photovoltaic (PV) cells. Hundreds of these cells are placed together to form modules, which are lined up to form the solar array, which sits on top of the car. The arrays vary in size, but the larger ones in use today can produce more than 2 kilowatts, which means about 2.6 horsepower for the car.

When sunlight strikes, the photons excite the electrons inside the PV cells, creating—voila!—an electric current. Like the gas tank is the power storage for a normal car, solar cars store the electricity converted from the sun in a battery pack, which can come in any of a variety of types: lead-acid battery, nickel-metal hybride, nickel-cadmium, lithium ion, and lithium polymer batteries.

Some research teams have been working on this concept for years and years—Stanford has been at it since 1986—and have made great strides. They most famously culminate in the World Solar Challenge, a race to cross the Australian continent that has evolved into the even larger-concept Global Green Challenge. Similarly, the American Solar Challenge brings solar drivers together for a long distance race. In 2008, it ran from Dallas, Texas to Calgary, Alberta and next year, will span the 1100 miles from Tulsa, OK to Chicago, IL.

Alum as we know as a best cogulant especially in water treatment processes.. but can you imagine the cost of alum in the market? Alum cost quite high every year in market demand. So, drastically research and study need to conduct to replaced alum.

Last 2 years, during my practical training at "Local Water Industry Company" they proposed the project to Research and Development to do the study. The study include:

• To do research and study of Alum sludge for recovery.
• To do further potential recovery alum can reduced the cost of land for solid waste management.

The research works begun from bench scale which laboratory works evolved. The laboratory works focused on the chemical and physical properties of Alum sludge itself. The laboratory test such as pH , color, TSS, SS, 30 minutes settlement, etc had been conducted. Unfortunately the research only popular on the bench scale only. Its because:-

a) We found that Alum sludge has potential for recovery but costly especially for separation between alum and sludge.

b) Alum recovery we tested very poor as function of cougulant. So we need additives such as polymer to geneat flocc.

For me, its a good afforrd of their company try to something new. More Research and study need to conduct for

alternatives and also for company benefit even its study and reserach was failed.

By refering of the article, it is the great afford for Nissan in transport industry. The Main Objective are to reduced emissionn of green house gas which may harmful to the life ecocystem. My Opinion its a first step to the environmental clean which we tried to creat a new cars diesal base.which much clean and cheap.Unfortunately the arcticle not mentioned details for the engine performance by using diesel and make the comparison between fuel we used now. Its need in order to attracted us as consumer to rely on new Nissan cars.

Its because mostly diesel priced in world much cheaper compared with petrol. But for clean i really bit confius

Let we looked to the local, most of heavy vehicle are used diesel. In aspects of physical factor, most of the truck, lorry etc are produces sound, smells and high content of carbon monoxides released from exhaust.
Besides , if we compared with petrol, diesel more percentage of carbone monoxide were released. I think if this
matter , we need the expert view to ensure this cars safely and clean in order to reduced the greenhouse gases emissions in ours worlds.

China overtakes UK on renewables

For my opinion, we need to take a China as good role of this afford. What their done its good in aspects of finding the renewables energy as a new energy sources. Whole countries need to take similar action likes china. Based on the Science and technology leader, such as Japan or UK, China very far from the new technology.Maybe you all keep asking how they can lead them?

For me, the ideas to looking forward its the best way to take a challenge in this century. All new ideas must be comes growth like a mushroom. Against the word "independent" must not exist in order to achieve the goal. In this Case, China shown nothing impossible in this world, they used the existing and natural sources as alternative energy. Why we not likes them?

for me, its so many factors made ours goals failed, the constraints as follows:
a) Exposures of knowledge-In Local, we just exposed to educational likes western ( entertainment most of popular and more on the market). All books and magazines especially in science and technology not much available in the market. I really not sure... its caused of the we have limitation for gaining the knowledge or others. Maybe the reading campaign made by Government was failed ......
b) All research works done by institutional only popular in the bench scale only not continuous. Its because government don't have any afford to expand the valuables research to pilot scale. Maybe its costly and made government agreed with traditional way which very cheap and not efficient but give profit to other politician........right?
c) Facilities provided by institutional not equipped with high technology. Mostly, all equipment we used for laboratory works are the old ones. Its hard to us to get any accurate result and new findings ...how we gonna generate new findings with old equipment... you must asked for it...

All points i noted are useful and maybe its true,,, but before we do any improvement.. what supposed we do for Malaysia ( just celebrate 51 years old) you need ask yourself as Malaysian!!!! what is ours contribution to my nation.... for malaysia.... happy birthday ... and the improvement need to begun...

HIGH PRICES FUEL

my first article comments as follows;

In this century the high priced of the fuel is a world issue. Most of the country effected i aspects of socioeconomic, market demand and live stock. what happen actually? Most of the survey i done before they said that its as a signs of the improvement and or bad to economy sector

For the improvement, i agreed for that.What kind of improvement if priced drastically increased. Based on the survey and prediction by economist, they said maybe the souces of fuel nearly exhausted and become lesser by year. You believe it or not?.... that's why Malaysia major supplier "Petronas" take immediate action keep in hardwork to dig as many placed and sources which had potential to ensure the sources enough for long terms . for me, its good effort from Petronas to ensure the ours major supplier still exist in local. BUT UNTIL WHEN... THEY WILL SURVIVE FOR THAT? .....why we must depend to fuel stock for better life if the priced always burden us!!!!! Lets take Pak Lah said .... change life style... its that necessary and relevent now....
i think we need to change Pak Lah word...find others renewable energy and sources to replace fuel.... as you know by using of fuel ( diesel, petrol, formula one etc) now were contributed to air pollution which its may harmfull human life, animals and etc.So if this condition continues, global warming will takes places as fast as bullet... can you imagine that!!!

For me, Pak lah need to do drastically action by create @ implement the research and development works in 2 major cases. First to manage the environmental issue such as global warming ( find the major caused of it) and secondly to push the Research and development to expand their research to find alternative sources /renewable energy/ which may replaced fuel which contribute to clean environment.

We realized that so many research and development body was exist but what their findings... its that just like caugh on the stairs...
Actuallly i'm not blaming to research works but i blaming the person or other party which promised to commercialized this research. Can you imagine, after the works done what happen??? same... we just great in our local ,right? why not expand this research works to the world? .. .. I means here, why the government not take immediate action to find out other sources as replace of fuel ... we need to eliminated the word of " dependent" to fuel which conquered by europe.

GLOBALWARMING ISSUE

Based on the article, i really agreed to the writer and this is a good afford to show the eyes

of the globalwarming issued arround the world. So many person especially evolved in this afford but the question " is it the socielty and the world constious the global warming againts our world?" they know or just ignores......for them who cares... as long they may breath, food, and deserved life in luxuries its all enough right" if this statement true...... my opinion they maybe came from other planet or in short we called them "robot".

Generally, as human being and as Khalifah in this world a few action need to be taken by us. Even In Al-Quran and sunnah all dalil mentioned that we need care about our worlds and life as muslim/muslimah in worlds. Based on article mentioned that human is major caused of globalwarming .. i agree that statement. mostly human activities contributed to globalwarming. The activities such as illegal cutting the forest,deforestation, open burning, and industrial are from human activities. but who will monitor the global warming issued.... the specialist, researcher, philosshy, etc... its good afford to them but when the issued will get solved...we as human can't change right? only data study, and observation as a signs that phenomenon was nearly to us ... maybe effect & implication in 200 years in future right ..no body knows right??? it's different story if the worst case happen maybe occure in a year...may in that time international agencies make enforcement and all works to reduced to protect ours worlds become major issue, Rite? human likes last minutes habit!!!!!!

Maybe several step and action i proposed for the globalwarming reduce in local;

1) Highlight the meaning of the Globalwarming to all generation;- child, adults , old generation

make them understand the meaning of it. In this step all mediaelectrionics must evolve to promote the global warming in reduced and prevent it before worst.

2) Mostly in the market, supplier used non-recyclbe material ... we as consumer we need to banned them and promonting recyclbe material which much environmental benign.

3) As Governemnt of Malaysia, PM need to proposed extra budget for carryout research works especially in science and technology. With the expansion of budget may resercher, scientist glad to expand their research for find out the main caused of global warming and come with the solution to reduce and step for prevent it. Such as find other renewable energy, product environment frendly and recyclable

4) Law & legislation;- Law and legislation need to be strcitly and stringent. Its as rules and guide line need to follow by all. such as polluters pay the any polllution made by them and same with any industry.Who contributed air pollution penalyzed them and stop their licience without any influent of politicians.

5) Continuous monitoring and observation by specialist body such as DOE, to monitoring of air pollution level in Malaysia. if necessary their used the power to arrest them (who are contibuted to high co2 emisison in the air). Their duty include to highlight green house gasses definition, short / long term implication to ours worlds.

This is a only some tips i give. maybe if this step fully implemention and continuous , insyallah the problem of globalwarming will be reduce and life for ours world become longer free from global warming and atlast global warming is not the issue hopefully.
